Overview
This article explains how to use the email functionality in Cape Ad Validation to easily test your creatives. This feature allows you to send creatives directly to the platform via email, streamlining your workflow.
How it works
You can send creatives to a unique email address associated with your account. This email address follows the format: example@advalidation.com (feel free to reach out to the Customer Success team via chat or email if your submission email address has yet to be set).
There are two ways to send your creatives:
- Attach them directly: Create a new email and attach your creative files (videos, display assets, tagsheets, etc.).
- Forward an existing email: If you've received creatives from someone else, you can simply forward that email to your unique Ad Validation email address.
Automatic Spec Selection
When you send an email, the system automatically detects the type of creative you've sent (e.g., Video or Display). It will then test the creative against the default ad specification set for that creative type in your account.
Overriding the Default Spec
If you need to test your creative against a different spec, you can specify it directly in the subject line of your email.
Specify the Creative Type
To ensure the correct type of spec is used, you can add #video or #display to your email subject.
Specify a Particular Ad Spec
To use a specific ad spec, you need to include its ID in the email subject using the format #adspec[spec-id]. For example: #adspec1234
Finding the Ad Spec ID
The Ad Spec ID is a 3 or 4 digit number located in the ad spec URL.
You can find it easily following these steps:
- Log in to Cape Ad Validation
- Navigate to Settings (the cogwheel icon in the left-hand sidebar)
- Select Ad specifications
- Click on the ad spec you want to use
- Look at the URL in your browser's address bar. The number in the URL is the Spec ID:
- The Spec ID in this example is 1234
Once identified, simply add this ID to your email subject (e.g., #adspec1234) to ensure your creative is tested against that specific ad spec.
